Our Learning Space
At Casa De Luna, we believe in creating an environment where every child feels heard, supported, and encouraged to thrive. In order to achieve this, we have developed a flexible and adaptive routine that is tailored to meet the unique needs and interests of each child.
A Classroom Beyond Four Walls
We aim to nurture the child’s whole development and our curriculum is designed to meet the individual needs and interests of the whole child. By providing a safe and stimulating learning environment, we encourage curiosity and inspire the children to explore, investigate, discover, express creativity and experiment through open-ended, hands-on learning experiences.
Some learning experiences throughout the school year are: gardening, recycling, animals, bugs, science experiments, paper mache, beading, water play, physics, team building, making play dough from scratch, modeling clay, sewing, leatherwork, and so much more!
A Look Inside CDL
-

Indoor Classroom
Our indoor classroom encourages exploration, creativity, and socialization. It has a variety of open-ended materials, such as blocks, art supplies, and natural objects, scattered throughout the room accessible for children to use as they wish. The activities in such a classroom are project-based, child-led, and encourage collaboration. The activities may include constructing towers out of blocks, creating murals with paint, designing costumes for dramatic play, and investigating science concepts through experiments. The focus is on the child's interests and abilities, with the teacher acting as a facilitator rather than a director.
-

Outdoor Classroom
Our outdoor classroom offers each child different experiences. Any part of the curriculum can happen inside or outside. The Art Studio provides a creative environment that fosters curiosity. Children can paint, draw, work with clay, wood, weaving, leather, and so much more. Different mediums of art are introduced throughout the year. Children will have the opportunity to collaborate with their peers to create group art projects. The Play House is a beautiful space for children to use their imagination. Children will have the freedom to pretend play, socialize, problem solve, improve communication skills, and develop their social and emotional skills.

Sage's Farm
Our farm animals provide so many ways for children to learn and grow. Motor skills, social-emotional growth, literacy, math, and science come into play when children have an opportunity to engage with our animals. Our farm staff consists of Luna (our pony), Benito and Red (full size horses), Billy and Basil (our sweet nigerian dwarf goats), 7 beautiful hens, Flash (our small tortoise), and Shelton (our fully grown tortoise). All our animals have years of experience with children and love the attention. We will focus on animal safety and rules the first 2 weeks of opening and new child enrollment. Although our animals have great characters and are gentle… animals can also be unpredictable. Each parent will have to sign a waiver.
Daily Routines
-
Children will be welcomed by the teachers. As the children settle into their morning routine, they transition into a different realm of exploration - manipulative time. Colorful bins overflow with an array of educational toys and tools that have been carefully chosen to stimulate creativity and problem-solving skills for each individual child. Building blocks, puzzles, Legos, beading, magnetic tiles beckon to the children, inviting them to construct, imagine, and focus their little minds.
-
During circle time, children learn to take turns speaking, listen attentively to others, and follow simple instructions. Through songs, games, and discussions, they develop important social skills like sharing, empathy, and respect for others. Circle time creates a safe and inclusive atmosphere where every child's voice is valued and heard.
-
In our dedicated art area, children are presented with a wide variety of art supplies, such as paint, brushes, crayons, markers, clay, and collage materials. The emphasis is on process over product, as we believe that the act of creating is more important than the final outcome. When engaging in open-ended art activities, children are given the freedom to choose what they want to create and how to go about it. They can paint a picture, build with clay, or create a collage without any predefined rules. Through this process, they learn to trust their instincts, make independent decisions, and develop problem-solving skills.
-
We might gather the children in a circle and discuss the different animals on the farm. With visual aids like picture books or flashcards, we introduce scientific vocabulary, such as "mammals," "birds," or "insects." We encourage questions from the children, nurturing their innate curiosity about the world they see around them.
-
We believe in nurturing the imagination and creativity of all our young writers. Our Creative Writing Center is the perfect place for children to explore their creativity and express their thoughts through written words. Whether they want to create whimsical stories, captivating poems, or imaginative journal entries, we have everything they need to embark on their writing adventures.
-
We encourage children to let their imagination soar, fostering a sense of wonder that will stay with them for a lifetime. Running, jumping, and climbing all contribute to the development of gross motor skills, balance, and coordination. Outdoor play provides children with countless opportunities to interact with their peers, fostering the development of important social skills. Whether it be playing tag, inventing games, or constructing collaborative projects with sand and water, children learn valuable lessons about teamwork, communication, and cooperation. They form lasting friendships and build essential emotional intelligence through shared experiences and adventures in the natural world.

We believe in fostering enriching and educational experiences for children, and one such activity that has captured the hearts of both young and old is farm animal feeding. We aspire to create a platform where kids can learn, grow, and develop valuable life skills in a fun and engaging manner. The unique opportunity to interact with farm animals nurtures a sense of responsibility, empathy, physical activity, and appreciation for the environment—all with smiles on their faces. So why not give your child the chance to experience and reap the benefits of farm animal feeding at Casa De Luna?

As we prioritize the health and well-being of our preschoolers at Casa De Luna, it is essential to recognize the significance of both washing hands and snack time in their daily routine.
